The Morris County Library had a
wonderful exhibit of the paintings and
drawings by the Platt Family

ClicHelen Meade Platt is the owner of Brook Valey Farm. She and her late Husband Dr. Adrian Platt raised their seven children on the farm. Mrs. Platt was President of the local Bridle Path Association for over 30 years. She also facilitated the Spring Valley Horse Shows on Sand Spring Lane for many years. Mrs. Platt rode in the many hunts that occupied their fields, as well as numberous equine activities. She loves nothing more than her family, her animal friends and her farm. Born in Madison, Platt married and moved to Brook Valley Farm in Chatham in the 1940s. In the 1960s, she inherited neighboring Hartley Farms from cousin Marcellus Hartley Dodge, chairman of the board of Remington Arms Co. and husband of Geraldine R. Dodge. Today, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation provides millions of dollars in grants to Morris County organizations. Both properties are listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
